Misfit Puppets
Michael Allard, Artist
Vancouver, BC
I am an illustrator, maker, puppeteer, animator and educator with over 35 years of experience. I currently am an entertainer doing crowd work at community festivals and I have entertained in puppet slams using characters I created. My puppets are are an extension of my cartooning background with the aim of making fun of ourselves and reflecting on people’s idiosyncrasies in a playful way. My teaching with children, teens and adults has been in fine arts, mixed medium and cartooning. I have recently focused my teaching on puppetry to encourage children to create and showcase their own characters. I especially like to use recycled materials to support sustainability. For me puppetry is just plain fun!
